Although the forms of starters used in different types of cars are different, DC motors are basically similar. The main difference lies in the transmission mechanism and the control device. 1) The function of the DC series motor is to convert the electrical energy input by the battery into mechanical energy to generate electromagnetic torque. 2) The transmission mechanism is also called the starting clutch and mesher. The function of the transmission mechanism is to mesh the pinion on the starter shaft into the flywheel ring gear when the engine is started, and transmit the torque of the starter to the engine crankshaft. After the engine is started, it can automatically disengage the starter pinion and flywheel ring gear. 3) The control device is also called a start switch. The function of the control device is to connect and disconnect the circuit between the motor and the battery, and to connect and disconnect the additional resistance of the ignition coil.
